IF Challenge Swell
This is the weekly challenge at xa0Illustration Friday: Swell
I could only come up with some balloons.
I have noticed that it become everyday more easier to draw “something” “out of myself”, with no examples etc. Just sit down and draw and no lookielooks around the web for hours and hours for finding some inspiration!
By the way: I did the background with psp12 on this one. It is just a verry quick drawing coloured with copic markers.
Someone to watch over me
I saw a lot of drawings, paintings and whatever passing by with Amy Winehouse as inspirationsource. I could not help it to give it a try myself!
The text is a piece from the lyric that she song: Someone to watch over me (Ella Fitzgerald cover):
…I am a little lamb, who's lost in the wood
I know I could always be good
To one
Who will watch over me…
And at this moment I can use someone to watch over me myself, so what a great prompt for my art journal, I thought!
Mixed Media: all kind of stuff. Hair is done with big black permanent markers and acrylics and soft pastels. The face is done with copic markers. The shirt is done with a verry big black permanent marker. Furthermore I used colourpencils, fineliners, paint, stamps. The drawings on the background are drawn with just a simple black colour pencil.
Icons
Besides being crafty and drawing and painting, I like reading. I love to read about mistery's like The Davinci Code etc. etc. So I went to the library a lot.
Last week I was in the library and by accident my eye felt on a book about drawing and painting icons with temperra. I don't have any temperra and I am not in the mood of making tempera or buying tempera.
But I was in the mood for drawing. And I am always in the mood for challenging new things to colour with my……copic markers !!!
So I draw two of the beautiful examples from the book and coloured them with my copic markers. Some ot the details I did with cheap fine liners, toy markers and paint markers.
I loved making these drawings verry much and I only hope that I did not found a new addiction…;-)
Perspective
Personally, I think the biggest inspiration sournce for Art Journallers, can be found at : Daisy Yellow. Lots, lots, lots of creative idea's and inspirational blog posts can be found here.
I am a member of the flickr group for a few weeks now and finally had some time to do one of the prompts I have found on the website of Daisy Yellow.
This time I did not use lyrics or quotes and tried to let the painting speeks for itself! Now these days I drawn the girly creatures always by myself and almot never use an example or photo anymore!
The prompt in this case is : perspective.
So, I painted the background black and made the lines with oil pastel in the colours white and green. Verry much inpsired on a bathroom advertisement I had found on google when I was searching for the word "perspective".
I have drawn the girl on a separate sheet of paper and coloured here in with my copic markers. I cut her out and glued her on the page and painted the rest of the hair tail with white acryllics and add some more lines and curls with all kind of markers.
I added some kind of strokes of paper (cutted out of copy's of old art journals from myself) and put some stripes here and there to add a little bit more colour. I first wrote some words above the word Perspective. But that turned out so verry depressive and that was a little bit to much for me. So I decided to glue a piece of a tangle drawing at it.
Later on when I have find the words, I can write down some thoughts in the hairlines! At least that is my intention!!!
Three wishes
I used two lyrics in the AJ page to came up with three wishes:
Heal the World and
Greatest love of all
July prompt at: Flickr: 2011 journal prompt
Prompt: if you could have 3 wishes what would they be?
It is all part of some plan
Challenge at A year in a live of an art journal.
THE PROMPT: Broken
THE SONG: Mama's Arms by Joshua Kadison
I took a piece of the lyric that speaks to me the most:
"The season change, the young boy grows to
understand its all part of some plan.
You use to wonder what its all about ,
now those are questions you can do without…"
I am not sure if I stick to the prompt, but when I saw the lyric I had to think of my own son, who is becoming "a big boy" . And one of the things that you can recognize that he is becoming "a big boy" is the size of his feets
LOL.
So by reading the lyrics, I could only think of those giant soldier boots and boys legs.
The reason why I choose this part of the lyric was because it speeks to me so much. It just fits in this time of my live, so….!
And I love the way these boots came out…! They are drawn with the paint over collage technique, but I draw the legs myself
Don’t worry about a thing
Just practising some basic drawing exercises: and these beautiful birds showed up!
No that is not the truth… Bob Marley was singing on the radio: "Don't worry about a thing,
'Cause every little thing gonna be all right!" And than I saw these two birds… just at the same time Bob was singing: "… Rise up this mornin', Smiled with the risin' sun,
Three little birds, Pitch by my doorstep…"
